I want to have FUN again...

I want the fans to come alive again at Britney's Sports Restaurant in Lake Ridge, VA. I want to smile again and feel those chills going up and down my spine when the crowd goes berserk and chants, "HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!" I'm going crazy just thinking about it. I just want to get up and shout, "LET'S GO!" as I'm imagining Bill Cowher screaming it. Come on, say it with me. I know you're sitting at your desk, but think about Bettis pounding away at the line and the crowd chanting, "LET'S GET ON THE BUS!" Someone say it, wherever you are. I know you're at your quiet office, but get up and shout "HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!" If everybody looks at you like you're crazy, then you did it right... and you did it loud enough. Someone e-mail me back if they understand what I'm feeling. Someone e-mail me back if you're ready for some Steeler football. You cannot tell me that I'm the only Steelers fan out there who gets EXCITED thinking about the start of the season. Do you wear your Steelers jersey on draft day? Do you wear your jersey during preseason games at home? Do you wear the old jerseys around the house when your washing the car or doing housework? Do you still have a Lloyd, Woodson, Foster, Greene, Harris, Mean Joe, Bradshaw, Lambert, or any other old jersey you can think of?

Yeah, I'm GONNA have fun again. Can you feel it? LET'S GO!!!

I was at the Steelers/Niners game last year, and you know what? There was damn near as much gold and black in the stands as red. It was a day of driving rain. But in the end, the only fans in the stands were STEELERS fans. My seats were supplied by Niners fans, and they were outraged that they were out-yelled by a visiting team. I was wet as hell, but I sure had a lot of friendly faces around me. You know what I keep hearing, HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO. Almost had to walk, but it would have been well worth it. That's a cheer that should be heard this year, because I feel that the right moves have been made to bring us back to the glory years. It may not be this season, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the team that depends on a win over us.

I WENT TO THE BUNGLES GAME LAST YEAR AND I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE DISSAPOINTED IN STEELER FANS. THEY WERE TALKING OF CRAZY COWHER RUMORS, FOCUSING ON KORDELL'S OFF THE FIELD PROBLEMS AND PLAIN AND SIMPLY WALKED OUT ON OUR TEAM WHEN THEY NEEDED THEM MOST. I LIVE IN BROWNS TOWN AND I CAN'T BE THERE WEEK AFTER WEEK, SO I'M RELYING ON YOU REAL FANS TO SUPPORT YOUR TEAM, GOOD OR BAD. I HATE THE CLEVELAND BROWNIES AND THIER FANS, BUT THEY DO SUPPORT THEIR TEAM, WIN OR LOSE, SO LET'S SHOW EVERYBODY WHO'S THE MOST DOMINANT TEAM IN FOOTBALL TODAY. MAYBE IF WE ALL PULL TOGETHER, WE CAN GET OUR HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE BACK. REMEMBER, GREG LLOYD WOULDN'T STAND FOR ALL THOSE EMPTY SEATS!!!!

SERIOUS CONCERN FOR FAN SUPPORT
SLASH P.S. LAY OFF KORDELL,YOU WEREN'T COMPLAINING IN 98 WHEN HE ACCOUNTED FOR 32 T.D.,S HE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT............

I am active duty Air Force stationed in Hawaii. We are 6 hours behind the east coast, but that does not stop me from catching everything possible the Steelers do. I AM PROUD TO BE A STEELERS FAN. I recently went back to the mainland and passed through Dall-Ass 3 times and you better believe I wore my Steelers hat and T-shirt. All I can say is, if you are a TRUE Steelers fan, you will never give up!

Thank you,

OK, it's not even summer yet... but I am already getting pumped for the upcoming season.

I have a feeling in my gut... could be the wife's meatloaf... but I say it's the gohsts of Steelers past, churning my insides up, "stirring the echoes!" I agree with most of the comments I read. It's time to stop analyzing so much, and I think that goes for coaches as well as fans! Lets all come together and just enjoy the season. Faith, my brothers and sisters! That's what it is all about. So let's together "stir the echoes" and if nothing else, by use of mental powers... will the Steelers to the bowl!!!

PS. Great schedule! We are playing over here in Jersey not once, but twice! And I also will be going out this year to Pittsburgh! I look forward to seeing "the best fans in the world." It truly is a GREAT time. If you are a Steelers fan and have never been to a Steelers home game, you've gotta come out!

Thanks Mac and wife... congrats on the baby! My wife and I just had a baby girl, Shannon, get this... 9lb. 8oz. OUCH!!!!

Barry-

I saw your message on the McMillen & Wife page and wanted to write to you. I, too, am very excited for the season to begin. I wear my Steelers t-shirts on the weekends and wear either my Steelers denim shirt or golf shirt to the office at least once a week.

I also did as you suggested... when we were standing in the reception area, I threw my arms up in a touchdown pose and shouted "HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!! (clap, clap)" Unfortunately, I am prone to doing things like that, so none of my co-workers were phased in the slightest. But personally, I thought my display of loyalty was pretty spontaneous and welcome in the workplace (I work at an advertising agency). And yes, I will be wearing either my Rod Woodson or Carnell Lake jersey during the draft next weekend, along with my game shrine constructed near the TV.

Just wanted you to know - you are not alone...

I am going to wear my jersey on draft day! I am going to get NFL Ticket and record every game! I am going to quit trying to over analyze what I think we should be doing - because it really doesn't matter what I think! I am going to travel from the other side of the United States to see a game in Three Rivers Stadium before they tear it down! I am going to yell 'Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!" and 'Another Steelers First Down, HO!' and "Chewin Tobacco, Chewin Tobacco, Spit! Spit! Spit! If You Ain't A Steeler Fan You Ain't Sh@t!' (It's a North Idaho thing) But most of all, I am going to love the Steelers and I am going to love the game. Because that's what is all about, since I was 6 years old. That is why every single day, during the season and during the off season, I neglect my wife and children for an hour and go to the computer and pour over the sites that provide me with the Steeler news I crave. I hope they kick some butt this year, I hope they bring back that intensity that Mike spoke about, I don't mind a 15 yarder if it's about honor, and I hope that the home crowd stands behind them like all of us scattered throughout the United States, sitting in bars and in front of T.V.'s stand behind the Black and Gold. We wear our colors with pride and would give anything to be at every (any) home game. So here's to pride, here's to not over-analyzing and here's to all of those who bleed Black and Gold ! This is going to be a great season, because it's the STEELERS and it's FOOTBALL!

There has been speculation lately about what we should do for the upcoming draft and more importantly what being a Steelers fan is about. I believe that getting upset with this team is part of being a true Steelers fanatic. I'm not totally pissed because we have had a couple losing seasons. I trust Cowher, etc., to get that turned around. It is not fun to lose, especially to Cleveland scum. But the thing that I can't accept is players like Travis Davis letting a receiver push him around after a play and not responding, or Bobby "SuperFool" Shaw. My point is that I don't like to lose, but I hate people on my Steeler team not acting like Steelers. This team must INTIMIDATE even if they don't win the game. And Bobby Shaw, don't ever ever embarrass us or yourself again. Could you imagine Stallworth lifting his jersey like that? And he WAS SUPER! So, I think this team needs more focus or discipline or whatever you want to call it from Kordell and a few others. Remember what the hell uniform you are wearing! This is not the candy-assed Eagles or the showboat Dallass Scum-Suckin' Vermin. I hope that a few wins under our belt will breed some tenacity and balls (Steeler football) for some who seem to be lacking on this Team.

Okay, so I vented a little (I had to wait this long after the season or it would have been way too X-rated of a post).

As far as the draft goes, I suck at predictions and always have. I think if we don't get more protection from our O-line, it won't matter who the hell is playing QB. I do know that a lot of times, it's later round picks that become stand-outs and I think we need major help in our secondary (not to mention an attitude adjustment). I think Kevin and Bill will do great together and make the right choices. I really like the fact we get to play Oakland in Pittsburgh this year. How long has it been since that happened? We have the talent to get back to where we belong. I want to see the hard hitting fear inspiring attitude back as well. As long as they wear that uniform, they are part of my team and what it stands for.

I was born and raised in PA, close to NewCastle. I've been in the Military for 19 years, and every where I have been, I have ALWAYS been a Steeler fan, meeting all kinds of team fans and talking trash to them all(heehee).

Spent 7 years straight at Fort Hood Tex-ass... out of all the teams, my two favorite are the STEELERS, and any team beating the Cowboys. After the last seven years, I have grown to even hate the Cowboys even more. Here in KY now, it's much better... Steeler fans everywhere, and games within a few hours all the time.

I just wanted to say you have one of the best sites ever. I will have to send your link to my buds in Bosnia.

Thanks so much.

I want to know where all the true Steeler fans are? A true fan stands by their team even if another team is closer to their house. A true fan gets upset when some idiot at CBS or Fox doesn't show their team's game. A true fan Stays in his seat at the other team's stadium to watch his team win OR lose in the pouring rain. A true fan wears his team's hat, coat, or t-shirt in public whether they win or lose. A true fan ALWAYS sticks by their team, whether they lose every game or win the championship. A true fan knows that there is a God and that he has to be a Steelers fan and, God willing, the Steelers WILL WIN THE SUPER BOWL.

A true fan.

I keep the Steeler spirit alive every day... it's on my car, my wife's car (only a license plate holder, but it says "Steelers" on it). I usually wear my Steelers shirt or sweat or hat --- every day! There are folks at the local Krogers that call me the 60-Minute Man! I watch my tapes of recent Steeler games... good and not so good games. One of my favorites is the Monday Night wipping we put on Green Bay in 1998! I can't wait for the season to start. My son and I will trek home to Greensburg and hit camp at St.Vincents. GO STEELERS... Rule in 2000!

Steeler fan in KY.

We used to have the perfect place to watch the Steelers here in Albuquerque, but the owner let things go to hell. Twice last season, the games didn't come on and 100 people went around the corner to the nearest sports bar; never saw a place empty out so fast. Sorry, Baker Street, you blew it hard. Everybody in the place would be suited up on gameday; it was actually like being at the game. I grew up close to the 'Burg and met a lot of people from W. Pa. and had many good times cheering for the Black and Gold. Next year, I'm moving back; GO STEELERS!

The thrill is not gone for any of us (I would hope). I get pissed at things that happen all the time. But I'll never stop loving the Steelers... getting pissed is part of the package. I'm already getting jacked up about this season as well. Can't wait till the draft.
