Stop the Whining!
It's Time to Get Behind Our Team, People!

I'm BAAAAAaaaaack! To those of you who sent us "get well soon" messages... gee, 'tanks a lot! For the record, I've forwarded 'em to the the Steelers (who I figure are in more dire need of "get well" wishes than we are at this point).
After skimming through 4 or 5 days worth of e-mail today (I'll try to actually start answering some of it tomorrow), one thing is brutally clear: there are a lot of pissed off Steelers fans out there! Hell, there's even a small (but vocal) contingent of people pissed at ME for jumping back on Kordell's bandwagon so quickly. Like what's going on is somehow MY fault! Listen, I want 'em to win as much as anybody, but if there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's that you don't always get to be the "Big Dog."
I've got something to say to some of you out there, and I'm only going to say this once, so listen up:
If you're one of these "kick 'em when they're down" types (and believe me, I know you're out there... seems like there's always a handful of you a couple rows in front of us at the games booing loudly for most of the afternoon despite the fact that we're winning), don't bother sending me a bunch of negative crap this week. Sometimes I welcome it (and even contribute to it), but not right now.
I talk a lot about the glory days, but I also remember seasons like '86 (a 1 and 6 start, for God's sake!) and '88 (a dismal 5-11... a lot of people wanted to lynch Noll). I, like most of you, remained a loyal fan then, and I'll continue to do so now.
What we're experiencing now is comparatively not that bad, folks. I realize the Steelers are struggling. I realize that our playoff hopes are flickering like a candle in the wind (apologies to Elton John). But I think if we're honest with ourselves, we all expected this a lot sooner. Conversely, who among us honestly expected our Steelers to be in the AFC Championship last season after weathering yet another slew of key free agency losses & coaching changes? Damn few. Let's admit it... they've overacheived for the last couple of years, and for that, you've gotta give 'em a helluvalot of credit. BTW, don't even THINK about bashing the Rooney's for being "cheap." I'm just not in the mood for it.
The season isn't over. Not yet. A win over the Jags and the playoffs are still a very real possibility. And even if we lose, I'm still gonna enjoy watching our boys, win or lose, week in & week out. If you don't like my college-type "rah-rah" crap, go elsewhere for the next couple of weeks, 'cause it's all I'm gonna offer here.
What I'm asking for here people is a call to arms! Send me YOUR positive, supportive, "rah-rah" comments about the Steelers. Let's see if we can't get a little good Karma going, eh?
